I am Dick Staats, husband to Linda, father of Jae and Kai, and companion to Cedie our Great Dane. I am a retired Lutheran pastor, historic home remodeler, writer, golfer, and deep thinker who often succumbs to a rather odd sense of humor (a natural extension of deep thinking). I enjoy carpentry and the consumption of inordinate quantities of ice cream, that is, in relation to my relatively thin frame. Where it all goes remains one of the great mysteries of modern science.
These pages, these blog posts are my thoughts and considerations for this modern world as I enter my eigth decade on planet Earth. This is my way of looking both forward and back, for my family, friends and you, the occassional visitor to know a little bit more about me.
I hope that my words touch you in some fashion, and if moved to respond, you will share as much with me.
Yours,
Dick Staats

What a wonderful, interactive, reflective, and “tale-telling” idea. Perhaps life as a sister to Dick will generate many memories for all to read….be cautious…
Actually, my first comment pertains to the picture of Dick scooping ice cream….the shirt he wears is appropriate. He scoops with such reverence. Where is the clerical collar???
